Thousands of Angelenos March to City Hall to Demand Sanctuary Policies

Today, over 30 organizations join the people of Los Angeles in defining the term “sanctuary city” at the “Free the People Immigration March –  Sanctuary for All.” The groups are taking to the streets and call for sanctuary policies. Those targeted by the current federal government’s policies – including immigrants, Muslims, Blacks, LGBTQ individuals – are also declaring Los Angeles a sanctuary city.

Thousands of LA Residents to Take the Streets to Denounce Trump’s Attacks

On Saturday at noon, thousands of Los Angeles residents plan to march in protest of Trump’s attacks on immigrants and to call upon city leaders and elected officials to enact a model sanctuary city policy, with no exceptions. The protests come days after Trump ordered home raids to arrest over 680 people nationwide and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security conceded they now consider all 11 million undocumented immigrants to be “criminal aliens.”

The San Francisco Day Labor Program and Women’s Collective of Dolores Street Community Services, a worker-run collective that unites, empowers and organizes immigrant labor and domestic workers, celebrates its 25th Anniversary with the Grand Re-opening of the newly remodeled power center for organized workers on Thursday, February 16th, 2016 from 10:00 am – 2:00pm. This event is free and open to the public.

ICE’s Attempts to Normalize Immigration Raids Must be Challenged at Every Turn

On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a press statement acknowledging that they detained more than 160 individuals during immigrations on Thursday February 9th 2017. This statement comes as ICE agents repeatedly attempted to counter claims made by immigration advocates and lawyers regarding the arrests of “over 100 immigrants” through home raids in several cities in southern California.
