NDLON Responds to Confirmation of Jeff Sessions as US Attorney General
Los Angeles, CA – On Wednesday, Jeff Sessions was confirmed as Attorney General of the United States amidst widespread controversy regarding his history of advocating against civil rights, his extreme anti-immigrant views and apparent sympathy towards white nationalist groups.
In response, Salvador Sarmiento, National Campaign Coordinator for the National Day Laborer Organizing Network issued the following statement:
“The confirmation of Jeff Sessions as the top law enforcement officer in the U.S. demands a new level of vigilance and activism. There should be no doubt at this point about Trump-Bannon agenda, and their contempt for immigrants and for the rule of law. We have an obligation right now to stand with those who are already being targeted and to defend our shared values of inclusion and equality.”
