ICE Out, No Kings

LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles to New York, Phoenix to Seattle, Houston to Chicago. Maine to California. Coast to coast. In cities and towns, suburbs and villages.

Across the United States today, the people stood up and spoke out. They defended immigrant workers and families. They made their demands clear: ICE OUT. No Kings. They denounced fascist aggression and violence. And they celebrated the power that is unleashed when the people march to save the people.

The following is a statement from Pablo Alvarado, Co-Executive Director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON):

“Our movement for justice was begun by day laborers on the streets and sidewalks, in the heat, cold and rain. Today we returned to the streets and sidewalks to defend our rights, to protect one another and to demand that ICE leave our communities and neighborhoods. We are here, and we are not leaving, and we will not give up our struggle.

“We are inspired by the late John Lewis, who told the March on Washington in 1963: ‘Get in and stay in the streets of every city, every village and hamlet of this nation until true freedom comes.’

The following is a statement from Nadia Marin-Molina, Co-Executive Director of NDLON:

“We gathered today in our corner of the country, on Long Island, N.Y., The rain and cold did not prevent us from speaking out for immigrants who have been terrorized by ICE. Our hearts were with those who could not join us because they have been detained or deported. Like hundreds of thousands of others across the country, we will continue the struggle and walk with them, today, tomorrow and as long as it takes. Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo.”
