MEDIA ADVISORY

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 — The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) sends its deepest condolences to the family of the immigrant worker killed after being struck by a vehicle on the 210 Freeway near Home Depot in Monrovia, California, on Thursday.

NDLON today announced a vigil tonight at the site of the tragedy. We welcome all people of goodwill who are committed to nonviolent resistance against the Trump Administration’s reckless, deadly campaign of anti-immigrant raids and abductions.

WHAT: Vigil to mourn fallen worker who fled Home Depot raid.
WHEN: 6 p.m.
WHERE: Home Depot, 1625 Mountain Ave., Monrovia.
WHY: This violence, chaos and terror must stop. ICE must leave our communities. The worker was fleeing an unannounced raid by immigration agents, the latest in an  ongoing wave of violent, chaotic kidnappings and assaults that ICE and other agencies are waging at Home Depots and other locations across southern California.

We call on Home Depot officials, Gov. Gavin Newsom and all other elected and community leaders in the region to pay respects to our fallen brother, to stand with immigrants and to denounce these horrific violations of workers’ safety, rights and dignity.
