NO MORE DEATHS. NOT ONE MORE. STOP ICE KILLINGS.
Monrovia, CA – Community members, day laborers, immigrant rights advocates, and allies will gather at the Monrovia Home Depot on Saturday, August 15, to mark the one-year anniversary of the killing of Carlos Roberto Montoya, a day laborer, neighbor, and beloved community member whose life was taken during an ICE operation.
The vigil will be an act of remembrance and a public demand for justice. Community members will honor Carlos and the 78 people who have died in ICE custody or enforcement operations, while demanding an end to the violence and policies that have resulted in the loss of their lives.
WHAT:
Vigil to honor the Death Anniversary of Carlos Roberto Montoya and all people dying due to the reckless and violent ICE operations.
The centerpiece of the action will be a procession of coffins, representing the 78 people whose lives have been lost to ICE custody or enforcement.
The action will also highlight Home Depot’s complicity in creating conditions where immigration enforcement has targeted workers seeking employment in its parking lots.

One year after losing Carlos Roberto Montoya, our community refuses to allow his death—or the deaths of the many others killed through ICE detention and enforcement—to become normalized.
We will say their names, and remember their lives.
Not one more life taken by ICE.
Not one more family torn apart.
Not one more death.
