Advisory: NDLON Joins University of California Undocumented Students in Chant Down the Walls Public Action

** NDLON will join University of California students in a march, rally, public testimonies and live performances as part of the Chant Down the Walls concert series **

Los Angeles, CA— The implementation of Se Communities (SComm) and the Priority Enforcement Program (PEP) under the Obama Administration have played a large role in the nearly 3 million deportations facing our community. Additionally, the recent wave of ICE raids targeting Central Americans and the refugee “unaccompanied minors” are particularly unsettling for students of the University of California.

What: March to the Metropolitan Detention Center, followed by public testimonies, live performances and an open forum. When: Sunday, April 24th 2015 at 1:00 PM Where: From 4th and Figueroa to the Downtown LA Metropolitan Detention Center

Why: Undocumented youth and their families are rallying in a call to action to end the ICE raids that disproportionately target refugees from Central America, toddlers forced to defend themselves in immigration courts, lack of access to education, mass incarceration of immigrants and the detention and deportation of people within the LGBTQ community.

Who: Students of the University of California, Students of the California State University and Community College system, The ICE out of Los Angeles Coalition, undocumented youth, undocuqueer individuals, previously detained immigrants, families in deportation proceedings, community allies and supporters of immigrant rights, National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON).
