A Conspiracy of Silence on Immigration

Los Angeles, CA – In response to Democrats skipping immigration for the fourth consecutive debate, NDLON General Counsel Chris Newman made the following statement:

“There’s no avoiding the conclusion that there is a conspiracy of silence when it comes to the absence of Democratic debate about immigration. Big mistake. The future of US democracy is at stake if one of these people can’t prove that s/he can beat Trump on this issue.”

NDLON and over fifty organizations are calling on national and local leaders to address the demands in the Migrant Justice Platform. Two weeks ago, NDLON joined the Arriba Las Vegas Workers Center, RAICES Action, the UU Service Committee and Students for Migrant Justice in an open letter to the Democratic National Committee and candidates calling for a serious debate on immigration.
