Mayor Karen Bass
City Hall
Los Angeles, Calif.
Dear Mayor Bass:
We want to alert you to another shocking example of dangerous, reckless conduct by federal immigration agents on the streets of Los Angeles.
Video shared on social media on Wednesday, July 29, shows what appears to be an ammunition magazine lying in the street at West 136th Street and North Grandee Avenue in Compton. Apparently some ICE agents had a vehicle breakdown about 9 a.m., and when they drove off, they left some bullets behind.
ICE agents are always leaving their bullets in the wrong places. Often in the bodies of immigrants and other innocent people. Now on the streets of L.A. Once again, the agents terrorizing our communities with their faces hidden, are showing themselves to be unprofessional, brutal, chaotic, violent, sloppy and extremely dangerous.
We ask you — please, as our Mayor. Protect us and our city. Find out what happened. Bring these agents to justice. Whoever put us in danger this way needs to face criminal charges for their outrageous behavior.
Take a look at what happened here and here. Memo Torres (@eltragon.bsky.social) posted the video this morning with a hat tip to @lahoodlove and @siempreunidosla.
Our city is under siege. We need your help.
Thank you,
People of Los Angeles
