LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 – More than 12,000 people have signed a petition urging the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers to stand with immigrant Angelenos and stay away from the White House, the petition’s organizers announced today. You can watch the video from our press conference here. They said the number of signers is rapidly growing.

The petition is an urgent call from an alliance of immigrant and community leaders across the Los Angeles area. They want the Dodgers to keep faith with their city – and to respect the local fans who cheered them to their 2025 World Series victory – by rejecting the President’s invitation to a photo-op at the White House.

“Angelenos and Dodger fans, join us! We want to gather over 56,000 signatures on our petition—to fill Dodger Stadium and beyond,” said Pablo Alvarado, Co-Executive Director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), which is organizing the petition along with CLEAN Carwash Worker Center, Inclusive Action, SEIU 721 and others.

“Let’s get the message out. The Administration’s nonstop violence and aggression against our immigrant communities has brought deep pain and mourning to our city. This Administration must be condemned and shunned for its disgraceful cruelty to  immigrants and communities of color. Not celebrated.

“So we say to the Dodgers, many of whom are immigrants like us: Please don’t betray your city. Don’t disgrace your victory. No smiles and handshakes with that man. No photo ops. No White House!”

TO ANGELENOS AND ALL DODGER FANS AND ALL PEOPLE OF GOOD WILL:
