NDLON: The Only Way To Truly Secure Communities is to Kick ICE Out
Los Angeles, CA – On Friday, a federal court judge enjoined a major part of ICE’s infamous Secure Communities dragnet, a culmination of years of immigrant communities challenging the mass deportation program.
“By defending themselves, immigrants have once again defended constitutional rights for everyone,” said Pablo Alvarado, Co-Director at the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), one of the three organizations representing the plaintiffs class.
“This is a huge boost for cities and states throughout the country who have known for awhile that the best way to truly secure communities is to kick ICE out of local police and sheriffs departments. We will continue to organize in support of this goal.”
The plaintiffs class was represented by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), the ACLU of Southern California, and the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC). Click here to read the joint press release.
