(Los Angeles) – The Los Angeles-based high-road garment center and store Suay Sew Shop, and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), an organization which advocates to advance the lives of day laborers and all migrant workers, have joined forces to launch a collaborative campaign to uplift the importance of all forms of manual skilled labor, and raise funds for advocacy efforts in support of low wage workers in the United States.
“All labor is essential to those who must pay rent and put food on the table. This project is a unique act of solidarity between a visionary high-road, for profit company like SUAY Sew Shop and our non-profit organization which fights every day for immigrant and worker rights when both are under unprecedented assault. We hope to cultivate mutual support between the day labor, garment worker, and entrepreneurial communities because NDLON and SUAY Sew Shop share a belief that all manual labor is skilled. This creative collaboration aims to uplift these shared values, and to uplift our work while raising funds and offering the coolest sweatshirt NDLON has ever been a part of producing. This event is not to be missed.,” said Marco Loera, Director of Art & Technology at NDLON.
This Saturday, Suay Sew Shop and NDLON are inviting the Los Angeles community to a night of food, drinks, and live music from local DJs and Los Jornaleros Del Norte, while learning about local worker-centered organizations, as part of the official launch of a collaboratively designed sweatshirt in support of skilled manual labor.
