Family members of some of the 223 people who were rounded up over the weekend by immigration authorities during a large-scale workplace raid at a Phoenix-area car wash chain are speaking out and asking to have their relatives released. “My children are crying every night for their father, and I don’t know how to explain to them what is happening,” said Laura Torres, whose husband, Juan Carlos Reynosa, was detained during the car wash raid. “All I’m asking is to please allow him to be released. His whole family is waiting for him.” After an investigation involving possible immigration fraud, identity theft and financial violations, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents stormed into 16 locations of Danny’s Family Car Wash, including its staffing-services provider, HR Betty, on Saturday. Reynosa, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico and a father of two U.S. citizen children, was working at one of the car wash locations at the time of the raid.
