NDLON Reaction to Latino Caucus’ Meeting with White House
September 11, 2014, Los Angeles, CA–On Thursday, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus met with White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. In reaction to the meeting and the new timetable for executive action announced by the White House, Pablo Alvarado, Executive Director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), made the following statement:
Like the Hispanic Caucus, we are seeking assurances that the President will stick to his word. The best way for President Obama to demonstrate his sincerity is to look straight into the eyes of those individuals who are fighting their own deportations and detentions and make the promise.
