LOS ANGELES, May 13 – The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) today reminded the vast majority of people in the United States that they are not crazy, even though recent developments on immigration would make you think that somebody, somewhere is completely out of their mind.

The evidence of insanity was strong in Newark, N.J., where demonstration last Friday outside Delaney Hall, a new, for-profit immigrant jail, led to the arrest of Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark. The Homeland Security Department later made a bizarre accusation that protesters, including two members of Congress, “stormed the gate and broke into the detention facility.” The protesters, armed with video evidence, strenuously dispute this. According to Politico, “the members of Congress said they had been variously manhandled, roughed up and assaulted.”

And this was the week that the Trump regime welcomed a planeload of White “refugees” from South Africa – while attempting to revoke temporary protected status for thousands of  immigrants from Afghanistan.

The following is a statement from Chris Newman, NDLON’s Legal Director:

“What other words, besides malevolent racism, can you apply to the Trump Administration’s actions this week? The same regime that has systematically kidnapped and expelled thousands of Black and Latino immigrants to foreign prisons based on false criminal accusations, and slammed the door on asylum seekers, sent top officials to greet a planeload of Afrikaners whom they claim to have rescued from the alleged horrors of being White and owning land in South Africa.

“On the same day, they put 9,000 refugees in the United States at risk of deportation to their home country of Afghanistan, which many say is equivalent to a death sentence.

“This is looking like a Whites-only embrace of the ‘Great Replacement theory,’ the sinister conspiracy endorsed by white supremacists like the Vice President, J.D. Vance.

“Trump and his obsequious cheerleaders are fond of telling non-white immigrants to leave and come back ‘the right way.’ Clearly they meant, “the white way.” The trouble is, for people from the countries most despised by the President and his henchpeople, like Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, there is no White way to immigrate. Which I suppose is exactly their point.”
