The group’s spiritual fast is the first of a series of rolling witness to take place nation-wide over the
course of at least the next month and a half to bring a moral prophetic voice to the immigration
debate and shift it as part of the “#Not1More” campaign to stop the deportations of those who would
be included in reform. Fasters in Mountain View will establish their witness beginning at 7:30pm
at Trinity United Methodist Church after the May Day march earlier that evening and continue in
different churches each day for the duration of the fast. From there, it will be passed to participants in
Homestead, Florida and followed by Boston, Portland, New Jersey and additional sites through June.

“Until the President suspends deportations, we have a moral obligation to bear witness and to act,”
explains Maria Marroquin. “Families in our communities are being separated every day. Our faith
calls on us to fast stop to the deportations that are taking away the very people Congress is seeking
to legalize. We want to make sure that every one of the 11 million, day laborers and Dreamers alike,
make it onto the path for citizenship.”
