Community to Demand Justice and Condemn ICE Killings

Pasadena, CA — The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), workers, families, and community members will gather at the Pasadena Home Depot on Saturday, July 25, for a vigil honoring those killed by ICE. We will mourn Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was shot dead in Houston, and Johan, an immigrant worker killed in Maine, and all those who have lost their lives to ICE brutality.

Their killings have inspired a national call to conscience. From Houston to Maine to Pasadena, communities will gather on Saturday to mourn lost lives, tell the truth about ICE violence, and demand accountability. Lorenzo and Johan should be alive today. Their families deserve answers, and our communities deserve safety—there are no excuses for enabling this violence, for staying silent. And every local and national official will continue to hear from us.

The following is a statement from Erika Andiola, Political Director of NDLON:

“We are all in danger from the brutality of ICE, and the killings of Lorenzo, Johan —and all those who have been killed by them— prove that no one is safe. We must unite– and show up– to defend ourselves and honor immigrant workers and day laborers, who endure the worst anti-immigrant hatred while building our communities and defending human rights. This Saturday, we will gather to mourn them and demand an end to ICE’s reign of terror.
