May Day Actions by and for Immigrants Across the Country
LOS ANGELES, May 1 – The National Day Laborer Organizing Network and its member organizations came together today, May Day, International Workers Day, in a powerful display of immigrants’ determination and resistance. We, the people, spoke loud and proud across the country:
Bring Kilmar Home
Free Kilmar Now
ICE Out of Newark
Out of Los Angeles
Out of New York City.
ICE Off Our Campuses
Immigrant Workers Get the Job Done
Accept My Labor – Respect My Rights
Education Not Deportation
SOMOS MÁS
It was a day to stand up and march, and to spread courage among ourselves and others.
The National Day Laborer Organization and its member organizations honored workers in New York, Newark, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego, New Haven, Phoenix, Tucson, Seattle, Santa Cruz and other cities.
Participants included Nuevo Sol Day Labor & Domestic Worker Center, Cosecha New Jersey, Resistencia en Acción, New Labor, the Pasadena Community Job Center, Nuevo Sol, and many others.
On Thursday morning, Cosecha N.J. organized a march on Newark City Hall with participation from members Resistencia en Acción and New Labor. Marchers spoke out in front of the ICE field office and immigration court.
