Texas today is ground zero in the fight against anti-immigrant legislation and policies. On May 7, Governor Jim Abbott signed SB4, the most extreme state legislation to target immigrants and minorities in our generation. On June 5, NDLON and JOLT Texas launched #BastaTexas–an open-source campaign to advance, lift up, and connect local organizing against hate. Taking the lessons from NDLON’s #AltoArizona campaign, the focus with #BastaTexas is on building power at the local level, with creative local campaigns, and incorporating arts and culture to the struggle.
