Coalition of OC Groups Respond to Trump's Racism: Every Local Official Must Denounce Trump’s Racist and Dehumanizing Statements

Orange County, CA – In response to Donald Trump’s remarks calling immigrants animals, the undersigned organizations, representing a broad spectrum of OC’s faith, immigrant, community, and civil rights groups, released the following statement:

“We call on all leaders in Orange County to denounce and disavow Donald Trump’s racist and dehumanizing statements comparing immigrants to animals.

“Trump’s comments demonstrate the need for local and state policies that protect immigrants from his racist abuse of power. For over a year, the Trump Administration has made clear it is willing to scapegoat and punish immigrants and refugees as part of a craven political strategy.

“Today, Trump used the White House in an effort to divide us. Every elected official in OC must be unified in sending a clear message that this hatred is not acceptable, and will play no part in the future of OC.

“We are calling upon every elected official to condemn Trump’s contemptible remarks. History is watching.”
