Welcome to the 6th Annual Asamblea general information page. This February, around 300 day laborers and advocates from across the country will convene at our 6th National Convention to share experiences and seek new solutions to the local and national challenges that impact their lives.
This event comes during a period of great challenges and unprecedented opportunities for the day laborer community. As you know, the rights of immigrant workers are increasingly under attack across the country. At the same time, however, innovative organizing and educating endeavors are empowering the day laborers to defend their basic human, civil and labor rights. This is a living testimony that the most vulnerable, the most oppressed among the less privileged are setting the example in the everlasting effort to build a more humane, just and safer world.
At the convention, our member organizations will connect and share experiences and best practices on local and national campaigns. As the highest authority within NDLON’s governance structure, delegates will also make important decisions about NDLON’s major programmatic areas. Delegates will also be immersed in other valuable experiences such as leadership development trainings, alliance building, community actions and cultural celebrations.
Public Event: Arts & Culture Night/Noche Cultural, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 7:30pm-12:00am:
In addition to the workshops, plenaries and workgroups, there will be a public event that will feature an Altar de Los Sueños, Theater, Poetry/Spoken Word, Open Mic and Los Jornaleros del Norte. There will be a display of Alto Arizona artwork on display during the event.

Film Screening "A Better Life" & Discussion with Chris Weitz & Jose Julian:
Monday, Feb. 20, 7:30pm. A Better Life is a film that humanizes the story of the day laborer--those members of our communities who go to enormous lengths to make our lives easier, better, and happier.
The Director and one of the main actors will be present to discuss the film with Asamblea participants. Demián Bichir was nominated for best leading actor for his role as a day laborer in the movie, A Better Life.
